Hi Lovelies!
Welcome to Day 1 of Simon Says Stamp's And Back Again Release Blog Hop! Love is in the air and all over this sassy pair of Valentines cards!
With a couple strokes of a your blending tools and one statement diecut, you can get two cards and lots of kisses!
Clearly this card is all about that bold big XOXO diecut which works just as beautifully with using the cut out letters as it does with the negative space the leave behind. You'll need to add these and a few other items to your cart to make this pair of cards.
Below is a quick snapshot of our key supplies, the full supply list is linked for your convenience here and in the Supply Gallery at the end of this post.
When you shop for the items you want, remember to use the GNOMIE code when you check out so that you can get the cute 3x4 Love Gnome stamp set FREE with ANY purchase! This promotion will expire 1/23 at 11:59 pm ET or while supplies last.
Ready to blend and cut? Let's go!
XOXO LOVE YOU BOO CARD - Ombre Ink-Blended Die-cut on Dry-Embossed Cardstock
A2 Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Embossed Layer: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
Featuring:
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Abandoned Coral, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany
Additional supplies linked in the Supplies Gallery at the end of this post
I've got pictures for you, but trust me, you've got this easy card even without them!
Starting with the lightest red ink color (Abandoned Coral) and mentally dividing the white cardstock sized 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" into quarters, blend one red ink into the next going from lightest to darkest.
Die-cut the ink-blended panel with the Big XOXO die. Die-cut 2 additional pieces of 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" white cardstock using the same die and set aside both the letters and the negative panels left behind
Use the Geometric Lattice Folder to emboss a 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" piece of white cardstock and diecut a piece of A2-sized white cardstock (I used the precut Simon Says Stamp White A2 Card Front to save time :-)) using the Detail Tapestry Die
Pop-up the embossed panel with foam tape and layer onto the Detail Tapestry Diecut card front and then onto an A2 Card Base (I used the precut and scored Simon Says Stamp White A2 Side Fold Card Base)
Layer and adhere the two extra XOXO letters with the ink-blended pair to give them more dimension. Lay one of the two additional XOXO die-cut panels on top of the embossed panel an use as a template to position the letters before adhering them with Bearly Craft Glue
Select and adhere a few sequins and a popped-up sentiment strip to finish
I'm going to need more of those sequins!
I love how this simple design has such a big impact when you are showing your love to your dearest ones!
One last look before we head to the next card...
XOXO SWEET THING CARD - Ombre Ink-Blended Negative Die-cut on Stamped Background
Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Die-cut Layer: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
Featuring:
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Candied Apple, Barn Door
Additional supplies linked in the Supplies Gallery at the end of this post
I think one of things that I love most about this card is that once you get through the first one, half of the work for this card is done already!
Stamp the Hand Lettered Friends Background Stamp onto an A2-sized piece of white cardstock (More time-saving for me with the precut Simon Says Stamp White A2 Card Front) with Candied Apple or Barn Door Distress Oxide
Layer and adhere the two white negative XOXO panel underneath the ink-blended one to create dimension
Adhere a 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" piece of vellum cardstock beneath the XOXO panel with a tape runner
Layer and adhere the stamped and XOXO panel onto a card base (again, I used the precut and scored Simon Says Stamp White A2 Side Fold Card Base) and adorn with the sentiment strip and sequins to finish
When I first tried this without the vellum, my gorgeous background words managed to overpower the die-cut! I couldn't believe it, but the vellum definitely saved my bacon here!
Do you think I should give both of these cards to my hubby? I think I will save one for a different day when he's been extra sweet. LOL
