Simon Says Stamp - August 2022 Card Kit, Vintage Garden

Hello Lovelies! Simon Says Stamp's Vintage Card Kit! is full of beautiful, intricate florals with butterfly and dragonfly accents. I pulled out some coordinating Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks and made 4 Clean and Simple (CAS) cards for you to give a try.

Wish a little ink smooshing and ink blending I added these vintage tones to the white cardstock included in the kit and then finished the cards with some of my favorite Simon Says Stamp dies!

This kit feels so fancy to me and I am in love with all the purple!

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE - Ink-smooshing background, Dry and Wet Embossing

Embossed Cardstock Layer: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Ink-smooshed Layer: 3" x 4 1/4"

COLOR PALETTE

INK-SMOOSHING

1. Ink the craft mat with Orchid, Twilight, Lemonade, Aspen and Pine Ink Pawsitively Saturate Ink Pads

2. Spritz with water

3. Press first the corners, and then other sections of the cardstock into the diluted in rotating until you achieve pleasing coverage

I made the 3 backgrounds below, I used the first one for this card and the second one for the next card. I saved the last for a future project.

WET-EMBOSSING AND DIE-CUTTING

1. Trim the selected smooshed panel to 3" x 4 1/4"

2. Stamp the sentiment in Black Soot Distress Archival Ink. Without moving the stamped background, clean the stamped and reink in Clear Ink and stamp again, cover with embossing powder and heat set

3. Die-cut and adhere stylized butterfly die-cut to the background. Use your fingers to curl the Butterfly wings upwards

Pop-up the smooshed layer with the foam dots, layer over the Rose Gold Cardstock embossed with the Picnic Floral Embossing Folder and then adhere everything to an A2 card base to complete.

I love these colors! Will have to have something else with this palette.

This embossing folder gives me all the best floral feels!

Butterfly wings for the win!

THINKING OF YOU CARD - Wet and Dry Embossing, Detail Inking, Ink-Smooshed background

Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Patterned Cardstock Layer: 4" x 5 1/4"

Embossed Cardstock Layer: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

EMBOSSING AND DETAIL INKING

1. Select one of the unused ink-smooshed panels from the previous card. Tip: I chose the panel with the somewhat muted colors as I was going to be inking the raised layer in darker tones to emphasize the pattern

1. Roughly tear a strip of vellum (on both sides) ~2" x 7"

2. Wrap around the panel as shown to figure out positioning

3. Place panel in stamping tool and align Thinking of You stamp horizontally

4. Ink with Clear Ink, dust with Silver embossing powder and heat-set

Pop-up embossed layer on patterned cardstock using the foam dots and adhere everything to an A2 card base.

These embossed flowers make me smile!

The torn vellum and darker inked embossing help make this card special!

Silver embossing for a little glamour!

Pretty and simple, I think!

HERE FOR YOU CARD - Die-cutting

Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Patterned Paper Layer: 4" x 5 1/4"

No words, just pictures for this one.

This card is so simple, but the patterned paper is so elegant the gorgeous print and silver foil that it makes it look fancier than it is.

A rose gold dragonfly adds an elegant touch!

I offset the white and rose gold sentiment layers to give the the metallic sentiment more definition against the similarly colored background.

1. Stamp A2 white cardstock using the floral images and Black Soot Distress Archival Ink for a sharp detailed image.

2. Trim to 3 1/8" x 5 1/8"

3. Stamp the "Thank You" sentiment in the following colors Orchid, Morning, Lemonade, and Aspen by partially inking sections of the words with different colors as shown on the card front

Make the inked/embossed butterfly as shown below:

Stamp the "is not enough" sentiment on Lavender cardstock, pop-up with foam dots and adhere to card base.

Adhere the embossed butterfly with foam tape as shown below.

The "vintage florals" are delightful, even in just black and white!

A rainbow-inked sentiment!

Layered on top of the muted floral print, it all comes together!

When you are all done, you'll have a lovely set of cards with a touch of elegance and a lot of inky personality!
