Hi Lovelies!
Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp's 2024 DieCember® Release Blog Party! This is my 5th DieCember and made a shaped gift card holder for you to celebrate! The Stocking Gift Card Holder is adorable and generously sized so it's easy to cut felt with this simple shape.
To enhance the stocking a little more AND since my sewing is deplorable, I used my acrylic marker to add some stitching. I only have one regret, that I hope you'll resolve if you try this project, embossing the green back panel of the stocking. When I was photographing it, I realized that the Woodland Floral Frame would have been perfect! 😫
Of course, I'll share the stamp set and snowflake that I used below to embellish this card/holder, but you can also use a different favorite stamp to decorate the inside and another small snowflake that you have for the exterior.
Let's review the key supplies for today's project:
Supplies are linked throughout the post and then again in the Supplies Section at the end of this post. Check out the entire DieCember® release by clicking the image below:

CHRISTMAS STOCKING SHAPED GIFT CARD HOLDER
DIE-CUT LAYERS
I'll be referring to these layers in my walkthrough.
COLOR PALETTE
Felt - I shopped my stash for the below felt colors, the only one not shown is the dark brown.
PROJECT WALKTHROUGH
CREATING THE SHAPED CARD BASE
Trim white 80lb cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11". Score at 5 1/2" and fold.
Align the Stocking Gift Card Holder die layer to slightly overlap the top folded edge as shown, securing with painters or washi tape
Die-cut the stock to create the shaped card base
Align the Gift Card notch die layer vertically on the inside flap and die-cut.
Die-cut the Stocking Gift Card Holder die layer out of 80lb white cardstock (to create a full base for the felt) and Rainbow Splash Emerald cardstock (to embellish the back)
Trim the green stocking along the top to match the shaped card base (Tim Holtz Shears for the win!)
OPTIONAL: Embosss the Rainbow Splash Emerald stocking layer with the Woodland Floral Frame Embossing Folder
Adhere the Rainbow Splash Emerald stocking to the back outside flap with craft glue. Tip: the MISTI Precision Glue Press is my new BFF making it so easy to dispense fine lines of glue with minimal stress on my hands.
Adhere the white stocking to the front outside flap with craft glue.
CREATING THE FELT LAYERS
Die-cut the felt layers (plus the 3 brown snowflakes)
Create the cutouts on the tan stocking layer using the small arch die layers provided
Tip: I often do a rough mock up to get a sense of where layers will be placed before I adhere them
Adhere the tan and white felt to the front flap of the shaped card with craft glue.
Adhere the red and green holly & berry die-cut felt layers to the front flap of the shaped card with craft glue.
DECORATING THE INTERIOR
Stamp the gift images from the Christmas Cheer Stamp Set on the inside front flap.
Die-cut and adhere the HO HO Hello sentiment out of Pine Glitter cardstock to the same flap as shown
Insert your gift card. 🥰🥰🥰
DECORATING THE EXTERIOR
Use an Extra-fine White Posca Marker to add stitching marks along the edge of the tan felt.
Adhere the brown snowflakes with craft glue to the tan felt stocking.
Adhere gold metallic pearls with craft glue to the center of the snowflakes.
