Hi Lovelies!
Welcome to Simon Says Stamp's Holiday Sparkle Release Blog Hop! I fell hard for the RETRO LAYERING CHRISTMAS BERRIES Stencils and today's post will walk you through one of three merry projects that I made with it.
For a crafter who has a questionable relationship with her alcohol ink markers like me and is over zealous about ink blending, stencils are a happy place for me. The Christmas Berries Stencils are a layering set which even allowed me to add a little shimmer.
I hope you like the result and encourage you to visit the Simon Says Stamp Release Gallery to check out other Holiday Sparkle projects!
Let's review the key supplies for today's card:

CARD WALKTHROUGH
STENCILING
Remember to make 2 of these 6" x 8" stenciled panels if you plan to follow along with the other calendar and mini-album projects that I will share this month.
Trim a sheet of 110LB Neenah Cardstock to 6" x 8"
Using Delicate Surface Frogtape, secure the "floral" layer of the Christmas Berries Stencil, over the cardstock and to the Wendy Vecchi Make Art Staytion or your craft surface.
The stencil borders are too slim for me to be confident that the magnets to hold them in place correctly, this is why I used the tape instead.
Use the Large Cheeky Blending Brush to lightly blend Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink onto the cardstock. The light layer will give us a nice starting point for the berries and bring a little warmth to the leaves.
Use the Small Watermelon Blending Brush to deepen the color of the berries with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink, especially on the "inner" parts where the clusters of three berries are joined. Add the same color to the flowers on the design.
Use the Detail Round Watermelon Blending Brush to add shadows to the same "inner" parts of the berries with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. Add the same color to the center flowers on the design.
Use the Small Lucky Blending Brush to lightly apply color to all the leaves with Twisted Citron Distress Ink.
Use the Detail Round and Flat Lucky Blending Brushes to deepen the color all over the Holly leaves and to darken parts of the other "almond-shaped" leaves with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.
Position and secure the 2nd stencil with tape.
Apply a line of the Unicorn Stickles Glitter Glue along the top of the stencil where the tape is and use the palette knife to spread through the stencil to add little glitter highlights over the leaves and berries. Once complete place both of your stencils in warm, soapy water to clean them.
How pretty is this???
CUTTING & DIE-CUTTING
Carefully trim a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" section off of the 6" x 8" stenciled layer. Keep the remaining pieces for some other projects I will share soon.
Die-cut the You Are My Joy sentiment out of the Schoolhouse Red cardstock and the sentiment outline out of the Gold Glitter Cardstock.
Also, die-cut the thin frame out of the red cardstock.
Layer and adhere the sentiment with Craft Tacky Glue.
Ink blend the sentiment strip using the green inks to color match. Layer and adhere as shown below.
This feels just like Christmas to me and special card for a special person in your life!
