Simon Says Stamp - LINED LOVE YOU Valentine Card

Red embossed Christmas Card with All The Joy sentiment.

Hello Lovelies! I hope you will forgive me but this alcohol ink background is from a stash that I made a while ago. It was just waiting for the Lined Love You Die Set from Simon Says Stamp's Smitten Release, to be ready to become a card!

I love to have a stash of both watercolor and alcohol ink backgrounds ready to jump start my cards. Currently they are dwindling, so I think that I will have to work on replenishing them soon, and perhaps take you along for the process.

COLOR PALETTE

Alcohol Ink - Intrigue, Gilded

CARD WALKTHROUGH

ALCOHOL INKING

  1. Uncork your Alcohol Ink colors and set within immediate reach.

  2. Splatter a few drops of Rubbing Alcohol on Alcohol Ink Cardstock. Make about 3 small puddles.

  3. Add a few drops (1-2) of Intrigue Alcohol Ink into each puddle. Vary the number of drops to impact the intensity of color in a puddle. Add about 2 drops of Gilded to 2 of the puddles.

  4. Using the Blower, held at a 45 degree angle, quickly start puffing at the puddles of ink to move and mix the color around the cardstock.

  5. If the color is drying too quickly in an area or with a pattern that you do not like, add more rubbing alcohol to the area and this will get the colors moving again so that you can spread it with puffs of the blower.

  6. Set aside to dry.

  7. Once dry, trim to 3 3/4" x 5".

DIE-CUTTING

  1. Die-cut the Lined Love You outline layer 3 times out of white cardstock.

  2. Die-cut one of those layers with the pinpoint plate of your choice. This creates a fun textured background.

  3. Die-cut the top layer with the Lined Love You die using Matte Gold Cardstock.

  4. Die-cut the heart shape with the largest heart of the Large Holiday Shapes using the pink color of the Be Mine Glitter Paper.

  5. Pop-up the heart with Foam Dots.

FINISHING

  1. Adhere the alcohol ink layer to the card base with Foam Tape.

  2. Adhere the Love You die-cut to the alcohol ink card front with Craft Glue.

  3. Adhere the glitter heart.

  4. Embellish the heart with a metallic gold droplet.

Alcohol Ink may take a while to gain confidence with, but it is worth the effort, and please DO NOT throw away the panels that you are not please with. They will come in handy later for accents and die-cuts.

Somehow that little glittery heart and the gold droplet pull it all together.

This die-cut is so fresh and fun; I look forward to using it on other projects!
