Simon Says Stamp - ONE FOR THE BOOKS Booklovers Birthday Card with Highlighted Embossing

Writer's picture: Keisha DiannKeisha Diann

Red embossed Christmas Card with All The Joy sentiment.

Hello Lovelies! I think I've mentioned before that I love books as much as I love crafting. I wish I would pick up hobbies that take up less space though! Anyway, that's a problem for another day, today, I just wanted to come back to the One For The Books Stamp Set from Simon Says Stamp's Favorite Things Release, to make a Booklovers Birthday Card.

For my first card with this set I made a DIY Plaid Background, which took me a few minutes to create the plaid with various inks. If you want a simple but dramatic background, try this easy technique of highlighted embossing using the new Bundled Swag Folder.

Birthday card with colorful book design, "Happy Birthday" text. Orange details, ornate swag background. Mood is celebratory and cheerful.

PART OF MY STORY CARD - Stamping and Highlighted Embossing

Card Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Birthday card with a book design, orange accents, and lace-like pattern. Text reads "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and "here's to your next chapter."

COLOR PALETTE

Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pads - Latte, Cappucino, Terracotta, Brick, Melon, Honey, Heather and Galaxy

Eight ink pads labeled Latte, Terracotta, Melon, Heather, Cappuccino, Brick, Honey, Galaxy on a grid background, "Simon Says Stamp."

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Stamp and die-cut the books using the One For The Books Stamp Set and One For The Books Die Set;

  2. Emboss a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock using the Bundled Swag Embossing Folder.

  3. Gently swipe a Simon Says Stamp Nocturne Black VersaFine Clair Ink Pad across the embossing to highlight the raised sections with black ink. Do your best to keep the ink pad level and not press too hard so you get most of the ink "highlight" just on the raised portions

  4. Adhere the die-cuts as shown with Foam Squares.

  5. Ink-blend a strip of white cardstock to create the sentiment strip.

  6. Stamp the sentiment onto the strip with Simon Says Stamp Nocturne Black VersaFine Clair Ink Pad.

  7. Adhere Foam Tape to the back of the strip and apply to the card front.

JUST THE DETAILS

Decorative white card with black patterns.
I think the black adds a bit of sophistication and is very striking.

Yellow book-shaped birthday card with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" text, surrounded by ornate white and black patterns, and orange accents.
The different elements of the stamp set let you customize the book as you prefer.

Close-up of a card with a black and white dotted pattern. Orange band with text: "here's to your new" overlays a yellow-brown shape.
The custom-colored sentiment strip picks up on the colors in the book.
