Tim Holtz SIZZIX PICTURE SHOW Travel Album

Updated: Apr 7

Hello Lovelies! Tim Holtz and Sizzix are BACK with round two of the "Vault" releases and I clearly am in the mode for travel. I used to make pretty elaborate mini albums but today I want to do a very simplified travel album for you using two die sets from the release.

The Picture Show set is at the heart of today's project, but the World Travel set was the perfect complement for this simple make.

Let's take a closer look at both of these die sets. You can purchase them individually or get the whole bundle from Simon Says Stamp.

Our other core supply is our homemade box of Distress-colored cardstock.

TRAVEL ALBUM - Coloring Cardstock, Die-Cutting

Album Size: 3.625" x 3.625"

Featuring:

PROJECT PALETTE

Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, Shabby Shutters, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Uncharted Mariner, Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire

PROJECT WALKTHROUGH

DIE-CUTTING - creating the album base

  • Fold a piece of cardstock in half and secure the "viewfinder" outline die from the Picture Show set to the front flap. Allow the left edge of the die to slightly overlap the crease; this will create a small hinge and connect the two flaps.

  • Die-cut the cardstock and repeat two more times to create 3 hinged "cards".

  • Apply craft glue to the back of the right side of a hinged flap.

  • Adhere to the front of another flap.

  • Repeat to complete the album base.

INKING CARDSTOCK

  • Use a Mini Ink Blender to gently blend a mixture of Worn Lipstick and then Picked Raspberry Ink onto the left side of the first hinged flap as shown.

  • Continue with the following color on the remaining flaps:

    • Shaded Lilac and Wilted Violet

    • Shabby Shutters and Twisted Citron

    • Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon

I made the rest of my colorful die-cuts using my stash of distress Cardstock.

  • Ink Simon Says Stamp A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") Card Fronts directly with a Distress Ink Pads.

  • Gently rub the pad on the paper until you get even coverage.

  • Tip: cut in half for easy storage

  • Tip 2: If you don't want to create a stash for future use, then just die-cut white cardstock and ink the little die-cut rectangles with the inks for today's project.

Use the technique described above to create colored cardstock shown below in the following hues:

  • Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, Shabby Shutters, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Uncharted Mariner, Prize Ribbon and Chipped Sapphire

Trim the filmstrip die-cut into two sections. Measure and trim a matching piece of white cardstock to become the back ground of one of the filmstrips segments; this will be used to create a pocket on the front inside flap of the album.

  • Fold a piece of Simon Says Stamp Lavender cardstock in half and secure the "globe" outline die from the World Travel set to the black flap.

  • Allow the left edge of the die to slightly overlap the crease; this will create a small hinge and connect the two flaps.

  • Position the "lattice globe" outline die exactly as shown below and die-cut to create the peekaboo right-opening hinged flap for the 2nd inside page of the album

COVER

Adhere the "Viewfinder" inserts and letters as shown below.

EMBELLISHING

FRONT COVER

Adhere plane and arrows with craft glue.

1ST INSIDE ALBUM PAGE

  • Adhere kraft filmstrip inserts and pink arrows to filmstrip with white background.

  • Place a thin strip craft glue along the left, right and bottom sides of the back of the filmstrip.

  • Align against pink background and hold in place for 20 seconds while the glue dries.

  • Tuck x2 Kraft Large Filmstrip Inserts into the pocket. Tip: You can use the same die to cut out matching photos to adhere to the inserts; write little trip mementos on the back or add another photo

2ND INSIDE ALBUM PAGE

  • Adhere the Wilted Violet "countries" to the "lattice globe"

  • Use a small punch to punch x2 Picked Raspberry hearts. Adhere the hearts to the front and back of the front flap. (I put mine over the area of the globe where I was born)

  • Apply craft glue to the inside/back flap of the globe and adhere a picture

  • Apply craft glue to the back of the flap where the picture is and adhere to the purple background

3RD INSIDE ALBUM PAGE

  • Adhere the Large Filmstrip to the Twisted Citron background using craft glue

  • Adhere a photo to the Kraft Large Film Strip insert and then apply more craft glue to adhere to the page.

  • Adhere the Small Filmstrip and its inserts as shown

  • Use a small punch to punch x1 Worn Lipstick heart. Adhere the hearts to the middle slim filmstrip insert

  • Asher the "I" and "U" to the slim filmstrip inserts as shown

4TH INSIDE ALBUM PAGE

  • Adhere the Large Filmstrip to the Cracked Pistachio background

  • Adhere a photo to the Kraft Large Filmstrip Insert and then adhere to the page. Repeat for the second Kraft Large Filmstrip Insert

  • Adhere the Small Filmstrip and its inserts as shown

  • Adhere a large cloud above the left Large Filmstrip

  • Trim, layer and adhere the smaller clouds above the right Large Filmstrip

  • Adhere the green plane as shown

BACK COVER

  • Use globe outline to die-cut picture and adhere to back cover

  • Adhere sentiment sticker
